Hello, my name is Brooke and I am a 22 year old who has a passion for food and nutrition. Even though I am knowledgeable on these subjects, I never actually applied the advice to my own life. I guess you could classify me as a couch potato who loves to eat anything fatty and salty and has little desire to exercise. My body has finally had enough of my shenanigans. At 22 years old you shouldn’t feel as sick as I do. So I’ve decided to make a change and document my progress for all to see.
A couple years ago (February 2015) I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism, depression, anxiety, adrenal fatigue, insomnia, tinnitus, depersonalization, etc. And a year or so ago (2016) I was diagnosed with Lupus. Needless to say, I feel pretty sick. My body and mind feel run down. I’ve also struggled with being overweight since i was 14 years old. I sometimes wonder how my weight didn’t catch up with me earlier with all the McDonald’s and Burger King i was eating as a child. But I’m glad I’m catching myself before things get worse. Because it could be so much worse in the future if I continue on this path.
I believe that you can heal/prevent many ailments through eating a healthy diet and getting enough exercise. (And lose weight :P) There are countless documentaries out there that prove this. Also, if you look back on human history, we have so many more ailments today than we ever had. Food is powerful and we are what we eat.
As of today April 17, 2017, I will be adding another equally important chapter to this book. I will be incorporating mental and spiritual health too. In the past I have mostly focused on the body but I realize there is a whole mind/body/spirit connection that I must heal as well. It is important that I nourish all aspects of myself.
